We are Hunters Hill's only South Ward independent group. If elected we will:

Demand transparency in council
Stop closed council sessions and secret public land sell-offs.
Expand the role of the Conservation Advisory Panel (CAP) to also look at
design quality and sustainability.
Seek more planners for faster DA processing.
- Ensure residents get a progress letter within a week of their submission going to CAP to get progressive certainty of the issues they need to address.
Find smarter ways to raise revenue
Prepare innovative strategies for housing and public land.
Make our beautiful public reserves and foreshores more accessible.
Replace lost public trees and robustly respond to illegal removal of trees.
Advocate for better transport from TfNSW building on the Integrated Transport Strategy that Jim and Marc championed.
Make council waste services more efficient with regular 'garage sale' days and bulky pick up.

Protecting Hunters Hills character, entrepreneurship and independence

Hunters Hill has been entrepreneurial from early urbanisation, beginning with the Jouberts in the 1940s, and has had continuous independent representation at local government practically since local government began here in the 1860s. Not only were they entrepreneurs, but from the start HH was about building local character - from the stone cottages the Joubert Brothers erected, to the naming of places like 'figtree' after the incredible natural features they found. This independence is the reason our wonderful Australian-leading heritage local government area has been preserved, enhanced and protected through the ages.

Liberal Secret Plans for depots in Clarkes Point, Boronia and Gladesville with no consultation

The Liberal Mayoral Candidate for Hunters Hill Zac Miles has publicly said yesterday Monday 2 September - the Liberals will build three works depots across Hunters Hill neighbourhoods.

These depots will see heavy vehicle movements, with heavy equipment, dirty loads, spillage and rubbish all over Hunters Hill.

Our Hunters Hill Independents

An Independent Council

We will make sure you know what is going on in Council and limit the amount of closed door sessions to genuinely confidential matters like legal action.

The community will be part of decision-making. We will make sure your voice is heard.

How we will make things easier: Agendas and minutes of council meetings are promptly put on the website. All relevant DA materials on exhibition are on the website.

Promoting Quality Development

We believe Council should adequately resource Planning to sort DAs into quality development to process quickly, and poor development to treat robustly. Our Conservation Advisory Panel of architects, landscape architects and experts conserves our built heritage and can be enhanced by an additional role to consider & assess design quality.

Development should deliver real benefits like thriving local business and better transport options. We will demand that any growth that is required of council be in the right place, and accompanied by best practice design and sustainability via in the LEP / DCP review.

Faster processing of high quality, sympathetic DAs.

Protected Natural Heritage

We will continue to be custodians of Hunters Hill’s magnificent heritage and character.

We will stop illegal tree removal, maintain public facilities, footpaths, green and blue space and ensure advisory bodies and decision-makers are properly resourced.

How we will make things easier:

Faster processing of legitimate tree pruning applications

Public Space Safeguarded (Foreshores, access)

We need to keep our excellent tree canopy and biodiversity in our public space, and make it more accessible so we can all enjoy our foreshores. Without a spatial strategy for council assets and public access, we risk losing access to future public foreshore paths.

Council has already proposed 4 more parcels to sell off from a list of around 50, including foreshore land.
We will stop the council “selling the farm” for short term budget relief.

A map of council owned land and its long term potential, like access under the Tarban Creek Bridge, or foreshore access from Ernest St.
